Ok now. They are also known as the "expert" but either way, they piss me off.
Who is this "professional" you might ask? Well the professional is the person who has just started to be interested in something and acts like they know EVERY SINGLE THING there is to know about that topic.
For example, a senior in high school determined they are going to become surgeon and were excepted to a pre-med program. Then they tell you, "Well you know being a surgeon is a tough job, there is a lot of pressure, but I'll be helping a lot of people and making some good money." Or worse, "Did you know that there are studies on the brain that say I'm full of bullshit? Because there are, and I am."
Ok little child, I will accept this immense platter of bullshit from you because you are young, and I am young, and at one point in my life I was younger, and probably said some of the same things.
But those people in my age group that have heard all of the horror stories of jobs and people failing and people dropping out of programs. You just need to stop acting like you've already been in your field for ten years or more.
Or the professional fan. Ha, that's great. Go to an anime convention and you will get many of these. Here is a predictable conversation: "So I started to watch Dragonball Z two weeks ago, and already know so much about the life of Goku. Did you know that the writer actually wanted Goku to be a full monkey but in the end only gave him a tail so that he didn't confuse his audience?"
No, I didn't know that douche. I do know that you wasted hours of the past two weeks watching all the seasons of an anime and then wikipedia-ing the shit out of it and seeing where the internet took you so you could be the professional that only a "true" fan could be.
Is that judgment? There are many things that I love and that I have a deep interest in and know fun facts about. But there is nothing that I would call myself a professional about.
Heh. I'm such a little bitch. I love it.
Much love.
